Background - Dr. Tim Woods, University of Kentucky Agricultural Economics Department has conducted research that demonstrates that people who participate in community supported agriculture (CSA):
- Go to the doctor less
- Spend less on prescription medications
- Eat more fruits and vegetables and
- Feel healthier
City of Lexington CSA Program - In light of this promising research, the City of Lexington partnered with the Organic Association of Kentucky to launch a workplace CSA program in 2017 to offer $200 vouchers to a limited number of employees to purchase a CSA farm share from one of four participating farms:
Bluegrass Farm to Table serves on the Advisory Committee to the Kentucky Farm Share Coalition which is working to engage other employers throughout the Commonwealth to offer CSA workplace wellness programs.
